Terence Higgins Trust deliver an early intervention service working with clients on a 1:1 basis, with an initial assessment, post assessment and four sessions providing them with information and activities in a variety of ways to help them to build healthy relationships by looking at the following topics:
- Relationships
- Protective Behaviours
- Online Safety
- Unhealthy Relationships
- Understanding Sexuality
- Sex and the Law
- Consent
- Appropriate Behaviours
The aim of the service is to work with people who are displaying signs of unsafe sexual behaviour, to help prevent issues such as teenage pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections and child sexual exploitation. In addition to this, Terrence Higgins Trust have a sex positive ethos where positive relationships are promoted to ensure young people and vulnerable adults are ready for sexual relationships in a healthy and happy way.
Terrence Higgins Trust do not work with people displaying serious mental health issues. A referral to CAMHS would be more appropriate in these cases. In the same way Terrence Higgins Trust rarely work with people at Level 4 need (i.e. children or vulnerable adults with multiple/acute specialist needs) because they usually have interaction with numerous agencies and it can be too much for them to engage with this service as well at that time.
We cannot accept referrals if there is an ongoing police investigation or if there is more than 2 agencies working with an individual.
